Welcome to Pakistan Maritime Security Agency

UNCLOS-1982 introduced a comprehensive legal framework for use and protection of world's oceans. To consolidate the jurisdiction of UNCLOS-1982 over Pakistan's Maritime Zones (MZs), PMSA came into being on 1st January 1987.

PMSA's mandate is to enforce national and international maritime laws, policies and conventions within MZs of Pakistan. These MZs include Internal Waters, Territorial Waters, Contiguous Zone, Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf. In this regard, PMSA Act was also passed by Parliament in 1994.

About Pakistan Maritime Security Agency

Prevent unauthorized exploitation of any economic resources by any person, agency, vessel or device within the Maritime Zones.
Protect Pakistani fishing vessels and crew against any threat, intrusion or interference within Maritime Zones.
Enforce national and international laws, agreements and conventions on and under the water in Maritime Zones.
Assist and coordinate search and rescue for vessels, property and lives in distress and render such assistance, which may be necessary in any emergency in Maritime Zones and on high seas.
To undertake counternarcotic and antihuman trafficking/ smuggling operations.
ender assistance to other agencies in acquisition of mineral exploration, seismic studies and assessment data in Maritime Zones.
